These photographs were taken by two of my favorite photographers ( Herb Ritts), a Known Fashion photographer in the 80’s and 90’s and Leonard Nimoy , a celebrated actor known for his Tv show role as Mr. Spock in Start Trek Enterprise!
These captivating images demonstrate more than two decades of social evolution in a single image. I am sure Herb never saw this coming! Leonard’s take on one of his famous and most controversial images that put his name on the map as a top fashion photographer
20 years ago no one could ever imagine publishing Leonards photos in any magazine, let alone coming to terms with accepting the fact that Fat is Good and being Fit is no longer a requirement in the world of beauty or fashion photography.
But what’s next? where do we go from here? where do we draw the line? at 200, 300, 400 or a 1000 pounds? at what point it’s ok to say to NO…that is not a healthy looking body or a life style!
In the U.S alone 4 out of 5 kids under the age of 10 are considered obese and 3 out of 5 of those kids have diabetes! and we still tell ourselves that Fat is beautiful and we tell our kids it’s ok to be over weight, because everyone else is!
